There is nothing you can do. There are no extensions granted for your scholarship funds and the funds will be returned to your sponsor. You will receive a phone call and email notifying you that the deadline has passed and funds will not be disbursed following July 1 the year after you received your scholarship.
Ensure to complete the Scholarship Disbursement Request form at https://www.assist-a-grad.org/students/claim-my-scholarship or by going directly to tinyurl.com/claimscholarship.
Ensure that you have your certificate(s) with you as you will need the dollar amount you were awarded to complete the Scholarship Disbursement Request form. Among other things you will need:
School Name
Financial Aid Office Mailing Address
Amount of Funds you want distributed (have certificate from Assist-A-Grad handy)
Student ID Number
Term you want the funds applied to (please plan accordingly)
Proof of registration in the form of a current class schedule (Enrollment verification is NOT accepted)
No. Scholarship funds will be sent directly to the Financial Aid Office at the college/university/program in which you are enrolled.
To find the Financial Aid Office for your school or university, you should first visit the school's website and navigate to the "Financial Aid" or "Student Services" section. The specific location on the website may vary, but you should be able to find information about the Financial Aid Office, including its address, phone number, and email.
No. For example, if you were awarded one $1,000 scholarship, you are able to request disbursement of the entire $1,000. You are NOT ALLOWED to request $500 in Fall semester and $500 in Spring semester.
Scholarships are NOT AUTOMATICALLY sent to your school/university/program. Assist-A-Grad requires a couple of things to disburse your scholarship. We cannot process your disbursement if you do not provide us the information via the Scholarship Disbursement Request form (tinyurl.com/claimscholarship).
Scholarships expire July 1 the year after you are awarded. We strongly encourage you to disburse the scholarship funds to your Community College. If your financial aid office issues you a refund check in the amount of the additional scholarship funds that aren’t used for a particular term, we hope you use the scholarship funds for educational expenses. Assist-A-Grad is not able to control funds after your financial aid office issues a check to you.
